Creating a home gym is a great way to stay healthy while regular gyms are closed. Having some workout basics at home helps make working out accessible, easy, and convenient! Below is everything you need for your home gym. If you or someone you know is a big workout enthusiast or is trying to get into the gym these gifts are great extras to help with that fitness journey.

I didn’t include any major workout equipment like weights, or a treadmill because those are usually major purchases. Check out Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace because they usually have great second hand exercise equipment for much cheaper!! Most of these items are under $50 which makes them affordable and practical. These are also supposed to be more generalized to fitness as opposed to tailored to a specific sport or activity.

Aerobic Step – Bringing back the 80’s step workouts because they are such great cardio. Box jumps, step ups, squats, and lunges are enhanced with a slight step up. This block has a few different heights and feels pretty sturdy.

Hot Yoga Towel– If you live in a warm climate, or love to work up a big sweat every session, these towels are some of the softest and most absorbent you could ask for. My boyfriend swears by them!

Yoga Set or Yoga Mat – I use my yoga mat for home workouts or yoga sessions all the time. If you’re an enthusiastic yogi you may want the full set of mat, block, wheel, strap etc to enhance your yoga practice.

Foam Roller– I swear foam rolling changed my life. If you warm up and dynamic stretch before your workout. Then foam roll and static stretch after your workout. You will notice a world of difference in your soreness levels and your flexibility!

Large Exercise Mat– If you find that a yoga mat just isn’t cutting it for your workouts, this larger area exercise mat covers more width.

Exercise Ball– Replace your office chair with it, use it for workouts, or just bounce around and have fun like a kid again.

Barbell Pad– Barbell hip thrusts have become one of the trendiest (and most effective!!) butt exercises over the past few years. Butt if you’ve ever tried them, you know the bruises and pain that can come from resting a barbell straight on your hip bones. If you’re tired of looking and feeling silly by stacking yoga mats under the barbell, this sleek and comfy barbell pad slips right in your gym bag!

Wrist/Ankle Weights– If you’re just starting out, but want a bit more challenge than just body weight these are a great transition to resistance bands or heavier weights.

Hip Band– This hip band is a resistance band with basically no stretch. Makes the burn even more intense than a regular resistance band!

Resistance Band Set– If you don’t have weights at home, resistance bands provide more intensity than just body weight alone.

Sliders – These may seem simple, but they really enhance simple exercises like squats, mountain climbers, and arm reaches.

Water Bottle– I like this one because it’s insulated to keep your water cold. Plus it comes with different lids to switch between a wide chug-able mouth, or a straw mouth.

Duffle Bag– This gym bag features a wet section (great for separating icky sweaty clothes), and a shoe compartment!

Headbands– Allowing you to keep your hair (and sweat!) out of your face while still looking cute

Face Mister– Nothing feels better after a good workout or hot yoga session than some gentle, cooling face mist

On the Go Blender Bottle– if you love smoothies, protein shakes, or pre-workout, but hate the clumps this on the go blender bottle allows you to mix on the go. USB chargeable makes it super convenient to pack and run

Fanny Pack– Maybe you don’t want to rent a locker, or want to go running outside. This slim fanny pack allows you to bring your phone/ipod, credit card, keys, id, gym card, lip chap etc without it being in your way

Digital Scale– Gift a scale at your own risk, but if you are going to buy a scale this is one of the most informative on the market. Measuring more than just weight, it can also tell you BMI, Muscle Mass, Water % and can be controlled from your phone!

Heart Rate Monitor– For those that can’t afford a FitBit or other smart watch, a heart rate monitor is a more affordable option to ensure you are within your optimal workout heartrate range. For those that love Orange Theory, this will definitely come in handy for home workouts.

Tik Tok Leggings – I normally wouldn’t put exercise clothing/shoes on a gift list unless you know the persons size or are buying for yourself. Butt I couldn’t resist including these Tik Tok famous leggings that make your butt look as big and juicy as it possibly can (even if you didn’t do your squats that week)

Bonus:

If you need a last minute gift and you don’t have time to wait for shipping (even 2 day Prime Shipping), a workout/fitness subscription is another great gift along the Fitness theme. Try the Peleton App (which features a lot more than just spin classes), Alo Moves for yoga and home workouts, or even HeadSpace for my favorite meditation app.
